How to get more value from your business card

I’d like to start with a question — what did you do with the last business card you received? My guess is that you can’t remember because you probably didn’t do anything with it.

It has become so cliche for most people to exchange cards whenever the opportunity arises — We just do it for the sake of it. No expectations and most times no rewards too!

Personally, I think I got sick of it and I stopped trying. Why give out my card when I am almost completely certain that others will do unto it what I have always done to theirs.

Well, my perspective changed today.

Now I think business cards should not just be something we exchange alongside pleasantries at business meetings. I believe that we can be more strategic with our business cards by using them as conversation starters. In essence, with your business card you have an easy prompt for starting business conversations with absolutely anybody and anywhere for that matter. so rather than just distributing my cards like flyers, i use them to break the ice, introduce myself and then talk business.

No longer is my prayer that they keep my card somewhere safe and hopefully pick it up someday and place that business call to me. Rather, i focus on developing a good pitch that i can use after my card does the introduction. I wouldn’t care what they do with the card afterwards; because it would have served its purpose and I would have used the conversation to ensure that I am their first point of call whenever they need my type of service.

That said, here is my card below. I am into the Insurance business and can take care of any of your insurance needs. So share this post, but also give me a call and lets talk. (i just had to do this..lol)

Cheers.
